With 33 years of experience, Rod Shaver P.Geo, principal of Shaver EGI, directly authors all peer reviews as well as all reports for the purposes of litigation and subrogation. Form 53 Acknowledgment of Expert’s Duty is included, as applicable.
Experience includes multi-source contaminant plumes, historical contamination assessments, degradation patterning, vertical and lateral differentiation, forensic investigations, contaminant migration and boundary condition determinations.
In generalized terms, the purpose of a peer review of environmental reports is to offer an opinion with regard to whether the work program(s) completed by a third party consultant or contractor are consistent with:
The generally accepted environmental response as required by the data provided as it refers to the site conditions, and/or the outlined scope of work as described within the reports, and/or the scope of work as requested by the client;
The appropriate regulatory regime, professional standards, and guidance documents as applicable to the scope of work completed at the site in question, and as it refers to the data provided; and,
Whether or not the responses, actions taken, conclusions reached, and recommendations provided are appropriately explained and scientifically defensible as it refers to the data provided.
Field work, and/or field reviews, can be associated with peer reviews or legal proceedings. The associated onsite work is completed by Rod or other qualified Shaver EGI personnel.
